"Going SOLO"

Hooray!

I've started my very first solo project for LibriVox. (I'll write more about LibriVox some time soon.) It's going to be "Der kleine Lord" by Frances H. Burnett, which of course is in the publich domain.
Just can't wait to get started. I absolutely love the book and I've figured out recording pretty much.
Anyway can't believe that I haven't read the book in ages... well ever since I tidied out my room and took it to the attic along with all my other children's books.

EDIT: First 3 chapters are up!!!!

By the way I've discovered some more "cover art" yesterday. I actually copied the cover of another book by F.H. Burnett a little while ago. It's from the book cover of "Sara, die kleine Prinzessin" (The little Princess). I'm rather sorry that the quality of the pic sucks but what can you expect from an iphone shot, especially since my drawings are just done with a pencil and tend to be rather faint. Still I like the pic even if I managed to age Sara quite a bit...

"52" birthday

I've been neglecting my blog for the last few days, for I've been rather busy.

On Saturday a close friend and I celebrated our combined "52" birthday. With mine at the beginning of May and hers at the end, we usually do this somewhere inbetween. We have been doing this ever since our "22" birthday and it has become a much cherished tradition.

This time we visited a rather fancy Italian restaurant, where the food was absolutely divine. Afterwards we had a great time shopping for a birthday present, which too is part of the tradition. It took us ages to find similar dresses we both liked. (This was a real difficult feat. for I alone usually need lots of time to choose but having to combine to different tastes really is a Herculian task.) Still I just loved every minute and it was splendid fun.

Books I've read so far (2009)

As I've joined the "One Book a Week Club 2009" at LibriVox, I'm actually keeping track of my reading... I'm trying to anyway.

So here is my list:

1. Deeper by Jeff Long: Good but with a rather strange ending
2. Just another kid by Torey Hayden: interesting
3. Twilight children by Torey Hayden: interesting but it's always the same
4. Brisingr by Christopher Paolini: Great, much better than Eldest
5. Heartstopper by Joy Fielding: good
6. Glück ich sehe dich anders by Melanie Ahrens: didn't like that one, too depressing
7. Spuren im Schnee by Julie Hill: didn't like that one either
8. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer: ok but not as good as I would have expected given the hype
9. New Moon by Stephanie Meyer: liked that one better than Twilight (finally the story starts to get interesting)
10. Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer: good
11. Breaking dawn by Stephanie Meyer: good
12. Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult: Great, one of my favs
13. Copycat by Gillian White: Great, must have read it a 100 times
14. The probable Future by Alice Hoffman: Great but a little strange (will def. reread it some time)
15. Tintenblut by Cornelia Funke: Great, one of my favs
16. Tintenherz by Cornelia Funke: Great, one of my favs
17. Tintentod by Cornelia Funke: Great, one of my favs
18. A thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hosseini: Good

Currently I'm somewhere in the middle of "Host" by Stephanie Meyer and I'm listening to "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte.

Akinator

I recently found this marvellous page called Akinator. All you have to do is think of a person and then answer the questions posed by a genie. (see pic) This little genie is a real genius. It's almost impossible to beat it with anything recent or modern. He even knew Renesmee Cullen (half vampire baby from Twilight) but I beat him with Frances H. Burnett (author of "The little Princess"...).

Twilight

So this here is my first real post and I can think of nothing else but to write about the books I've just finished. ;)

Actually I really enjoyed reading the Twilight series even if I rather expected more due to the hype.
The first book gets a little boring somewhere in the middle for the two main characters seem to be constantly going on about their feelings.
Still the other three were just great. Only the end was a little disappointing.... but I can't say why for I'd spoil it for everybody, who hasn't read them yet.

Anyway the cover of the first book inspired be to do a little sketching myself. I think the likness isn't too bad even if the quality of the drawing has suffered a little. (As I don't have a scanner I had to take a "fuzzy" iphone shot of it.)

Finally!

Finally.... I've got my very own blog. Right now things are still a bit chaotic for I need to get everything set up properly and I've never done this before. Still I'm really looking forward to the fun of it!
